Jazz Smash Review - A Minigame with Polish

Score: 7/10

Pros

  • Multiple instruments to unlock and smash
  • Multiple bats to unlock and use
  • Audio 'click' that helps guide players in how to tap.

Cons

  • Infrequent Skipable ads

Jazz Smash might remind players of a game series called "Rhythm Heaven" thanks to the similarities in the game's simplistic nature and constant progression.

The game plays out as follows, objects fall from the top of the screen, and players should tap when the object falls in the middle of the circle. Occasionally, double and triple taps will be needed to destroy multiple objects that fall.

Progression is done via exp points. Each level starts you off at a number, and hitting that number of objects will give a large increase in exp. Each time the exp bar fills up, a new object is unlocked and will appear in the main game.

This simple game loop of playing, discovering and smashing is a surprisingly calming and pleasant experience. The game features ads, but these are skip able when they appear. A small payment will permanently remove ads in the game.
