There are ways which the Japanese have developed to make green tea taste better, so if you're making some green tea, here are some useful tips to follow:

1. Don't Use Boiling Water

This is because boiling water will extract the bitter or astringent properties of the tea. Instead, pour the water from your pot or kettle into the tea cups or yunomi first. After pouring the plain hot water into the tea cups, pour this into the tea pot containing the tea leaves.

2. Let it Steep

The amount of time needed to let the green tea leaves soak in the warm water is usually stated on the package.  Usually it doesn't take more than a minute or two. When Japanese green tea is concerned, always only use one teaspoon of leaves for each cup. More is not always good when it comes to green tea.

3. Pouring it out

After steeping it, swirl your tea pot gently and pour out the tea into every tea cup or mug you have in turn. This means that you pour a little into every cup one after the other until they are full, rather than filling one cup to the brim before moving on. This ensures that all the cups of tea you pour are the same strength.
